Twitter’s core services are still working, but some users notice that while they could post tweets, re-tweet and comment on posts as usual, they were unable to send direct messages.
This is an ongoing issue for some users who are also being affect by a much larger social media outage.
This is affecting Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, meaning a much heavier load on the Twitter servers.
There’s a good chance that today’s Twitter problems are not link to internal server issues.
An increase in other social media users migrating to Twitter to talk about tonight’s outage could be enough to cause a few issues.
One user writes: “DMs badly delayed, then appearing further back in the conversation, out of the order they were sent and pics and gifs not loading.”
So there’s a good chance that when the other services return to normal, the strain on Twitter will subside.
Facebook confirmed that the site is facing issues with images being upload and sent.
The Twitter account for the social networking giant confirmed the Facebook issues which have affected users across the globe.
Facebook on Twitter posted: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps.
“We’re sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. #facebookdown”.
Whatsapp is still working when it comes to direct message but not when it comes to downloading and receiving images and files.
Independent outage monitor Downdetector has registered over 1,500 reports from users as app is not working properly.
In particular, many fans have complained they are unable to send or receive photos and audio.
And as mentioned above, the Facebook group’s other major app, Instagram, is also suffering from ongoing server issues.
