The OYO Hotels and Homes budget chain announced Mandar Vaidya’s appointment as CEO of Southeast Asia and the Middle East as of Wednesday, effective 1 August 2019.
This appointment is part of the company’s focus on driving growth in two of its potential markets – Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The company has already committed more than $200 million in investment in Southeast Asia, the statement said.
In these two regions, which include markets like Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Vaidya would be responsible for driving business growth for OYO, the statement added.
These two markets are crucial to our global development plan and we are delivering guests in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with high-quality accommodation expertise in a short span of moment, “said Ritesh Agarwal, founder and CEO of OYO Hotels and Homes.
Vaidya earlier had 15 years with McKinsey and Co., from 2002 to 2017, before joining OYO. He was also a professor of problem solving at the Young India Fellowship Program of Ashoka University.
