A first of its kind initiative to offer a platform to children led innovations is being organize by GUSEC in partnership with UNICEF. Children from across the state under the age of 18 can apply with their ideas and get support.

Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council has been leading the student startup and innovation movement in Gujarat since its inception in 2016.

To address one of the major concerns of the startup and innovation ecosystem, GUSEC with the support of UNICEF, is organising the Children Innovation Festival (CIF),  a new initiative to identify, nurture and support children’s innovations in the state.

“The idea of the festival is to nurture children in the entrepreneurial field. It encourage them to innovate in their fields of interest. This will be also an opportunity to find emerging children innovators from Gujarat” said Rahul Bhagchandani, Group CEO of GUSEC.

“This is to celebrate and nurture entrepreneurial behaviour among children and young people. UNICEF is happy to be part of this initiative in Gujarat,” said Ankush Singh, Communications Specialist, UNICEF.

Through CIF, ideate to give a platform to young aspiring innovative minds & facilitate emergence of children-led startups in the region.

Top 30 ideas will get incubation support including access to government grants, free co-working space, mentorship, cloud credits over US$20,000 (approx Rs. 14,00,000), networking access and other benefits through GUSEC.

“As leaders of the startup and innovation movement in the state, we are please to offer this platform to young, school-going children. We believe every child has the ability to innovate and think different if the right platform is available. We expect this initiative to be a great success, and hope to emulate it in the coming years,” said Himanshu Pandya, Vice-Chancellor, Gujarat University.

Applications will be accept until September 15, 2019. Bootcamp involved with experts for over top 100 ideas will be organize during September 2019, it follows by a final event where the top 30 ideas get selected for incubation at GUSEC.

Any child innovator who has an idea, aged under 18, is eligible to apply, and applications can be made at 

UNICEF working with Government of India to ensure each child born in the country gets best start in their life. CIF organize with the support of UNICEF.

Supporters and partners of the initiative include the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India; Education Department, Government of Gujarat, TiE Ahmedabad, Motwani Jadeja Family Foundation and PDPU Centre for Communication of Child Rights.
